What this is
Tech moves fast, and hardly anyone stops to ask what it does to the planet it runs on. So we ask.
Every weekday we share one piece of tech news. At the end, we tell you what it could do to the Earth. Some harm is certain. Some is only likely. We tell you which is which, and we never make it sound bigger than it is.
Why we started
One simple, uncomfortable thing: tech gets smarter every year, and the Earth pays for it. Electricity. Water. Metals. Waste. Most tech news skips that part. We don’t want to.
We’re not against technology. We like it. But liking something doesn’t mean looking away from what it costs.
Why “Dead Earth”?
Because that’s where this road ends if nobody pays attention. It’s not a prediction. It’s a warning, and we put it in the name so we can’t forget it.
How it works
Monday to Friday. One news story a day, a different topic each day, at 09:00 UTC. Every story ends with a Planet Impact Statement: a short, plain note on what it means for the Earth, its ecosystems, its trees and its waste.
Your part. Tell us how you would slow this down or balance it. Write to us.
Saturday. One longer piece, also at 09:00 UTC. We take your ideas and turn them into steps people can actually take.
Sunday. If you subscribe (it is free), we email you the whole week as a PDF at 09:00 UTC, in the language you choose.
A short summary of each piece goes to our Telegram channels at 09:30 UTC.
Everything is in English, Persian and Arabic.
How we talk
Straight, with simple words and no long speeches. If something is bad, we say it’s bad. If it’s not as bad as people say, we say that too. If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
Independent
No government, company or party is behind us, and we run no ads. Editorial decisions are ours.
If you want to help, you can send a voluntary gift in cryptocurrency. More than 60% of every gift goes to environmental charities and tree planting. See how donations work.
AI tools help us edit, translate and make some of the images. A person checks every piece before it goes out.
The Earth pays first. We pay last.
